Agriculture Residues
Leftover biomass from farming (e.g. stalks, husks, manure), often used as feedstock in biotechnological processes.
Biodegradable
A substance that can be broken down naturally by microorganisms into water, carbon dioxide, and biomass.
Bioeconomy
An economy based on renewable biological resources and sustainable processes.
Bioplastic
A plastic material derived from renewable biomass sources, often biodegradable.
Circular Economy
An economic model focused on designing out waste and pollution, keeping materials in use, and regenerating natural systems.
Elicitors
Compounds that stimulate a plant’s natural defence mechanisms against pests or diseases.
Fertilisers
A substance that adds nutrients to soil to promote plant growth.
Growth Foam
A soft, porous material that supports young plants or tree seedlings during early development.
Mulch Film
A plastic or biodegradable sheet placed over soil to retain moisture, control weeds, and regulate temperature.
PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates)
It is a family of biopolyesters (called building blocks), produced by fermentation from renewable resources such as sugars and/or vegetable oils, so, it is a biodegradable and biobased polymer.
PHBV (Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate))
A type of PHA with hydroxyvalerate (HV) as comonomer. Higher HV content (>20-30%) leads to more flexible properties. Commercially available PHBV, the comonomer content is 1% HV. Other PHAs can…
Plant Protection Products (PPPs)
Substances used to protect plants from pests and diseases (includes pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, etc.).
